Our learning walk was very investigative this week - we came up with lots of different ideas using the various characters that we have been learning about.  We discussed ideas for all of our outdoor areas and came up with the following:

To make a better castle with huge walls to stop Jack coming in!
Banana and chocolate cake for Red Riding Hood to take to Grandma in the forest kitchen area and some pot noodles for Humpty Dumpty!

A fairy house for Goldilocks in the sandpit with shells to decorate

and

Some different sized sandcastles for the three bears again in the sandpit!

Finding out about the celebration of Christmas through the Puddles the cat stories

Creating celebrations of Christmas using different materials

In other learning we are focusing on new sounds and blending these to read and write words.  In maths we are developing our awareness of shape.  We are looking at the properties of shapes and then identifying these in the world around us.  We are also finding out about the celebration of Christmas.  We are learning the Christmas story and will be discussing what we have found out, using this information to support our work on celebrations.

In our outdoor area we have also been following instructions to create bird feeders and then creating our own bird watching station.  We have also found out that it is National Robin Day on the 21st December - have a look at the link to find out ways you can continue this work at home https://www.songbird-survival.org.uk/campaign/national-robin-dayhttps://www.songbird-survival.org.uk/campaign/national-robin-day
